“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” Gloria Steinem

With a staff and wonderful customer base comprised almost entirely of women, we at Alena Kirby feel strongly about supporting women’s causes.  We are marking International Women’s Day this Saturday, March 8 with a big 50% off all our scarves – with $1 donated to local women’s shelter, la PasserELLE.  We are expecting a great gang of inspiring women.  International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women – past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women’s Day is a national holiday.  For greater awareness of women’s equality, for more women in senior leadership roles, for equal recognition of women in the arts, for growth of women-owned businesses, for increased financial independence of women, for more women in science, engineering and technology and for fairer recognition of women in sport.
