Valentine’s Day is coming up soon.  Are you feeling romantic yet?  Have you made your restaurant reservation yet?  Me neither!

No matter – a good romantic film will do the trick.  I love nothing more than to sit on the couch with a girlfriend, a bottle of wine and a Kleenex box to watch a heartbreaking love story.  Don’t you wish you could go back and watch The Notebook again for the first time?  *Sigh* I really do.

Below is the best love story I’ve watched in a long time.  No one as ever heard of this movie but I promise you it is wonderful!  Please watch it and let me know what you think!

bright star film

Beautifully directed by the brilliant Jane Campion, Bright Star (2009) tells the story of Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish) who falls in love with a man of no means.  This handsome young poet just happens to be John Keats (Ben Whishaw).  Set in 1818 and based on the true story, this understated love story is moody and stunning.  Every shot in this tragic tale is poetry and the actor performances will take your breath away.

Please comment:  What is the best romantic film you have seen lately?

or your all-time favorite?  Casablanca?  Titanic? Say Anything?  I’ll accept romantic comedies, too!  Bridget Jone’s Diary?  How to Lose a Guy in 10 days?

We’d love to hear from you.

Agreed. He’s just the right kind of grumpy snob.
